Nicolaus Copernicus University has developed NCU CATching, a game that helps international students explore the campus, find its key locations, have fun, and make new friends.

The game was created by NCU Department of Promotion and Communication – NCU Alumni Programme in collaboration with NCU students and graduates from the NCU Indonesian Alumni Club.

Participants complete a series of challenges while getting to know the university campus in a fun and engaging way.
The game takes participants on a journey around the main NCU campus in Toruń, with tasks at various locations, including the University Library, student clubs, and the University Sports Centre. It offers an opportunity to become familiar with the campus, discover places important to university life, and make new acquaintances.

How does the game work?

NCU CATching can be played individually or in teams of up to five people. No registration or app installation is required – the game is accessible directly through a mobile browser. The game is available online: Play NCU CATching.

To complete the challenges, participants visit designated locations across the campus and solve tasks assigned to each place. The game can be completed at their own pace, without the need to finish all the challenges in a single day.
Participants can also download and print a starter card, although it is not mandatory. The codes collected during the game should be recorded, as they will be needed to complete the final challenge.
Detailed information and the rules and regulations can be found on the NCU CATching website.
NCU CATching is part of the university's welcome activities for new international students, including Orientation Week and Welcome Days.

Prizes for participants

All participants who complete the entire game and discover the final six-digit code are guaranteed university-themed gifts.
Teams taking part in NCU CATching during Orientation Week and Welcome Days can also compete for additional prizes. The teams achieving the best results in the extra challenges will receive sets of NCU merchandise.

The game's developers
The main creators of the game (concept, application design and programming, quests, organisation, promotion) are Anna Bielawiec-Osińska and Urszula Sęczyk-Bonczkowska.  The factual descriptions of the places visited were prepared by Kinga Nemere-Czachowska. The graphics were created by Agata Krankowska and Anna Jaszczuk. The voiceover in the app is provided by Andrzej Romański. The authors of the photographs used in the app are Anna Bielawiec-Osińska and Andrzej Romański.
